A man named Hugh Brightblade runs the hobbit hole. He is close to seven feet tall and always walks around with numerous weapons on him. While being a fairly attractive man his reputation stops most from
get to close to him. He has the reputation in several cities of being a slaver. This reputation is help along by the fact that several of the women that work for him, 13 in all, were slaves.
In true he is not a slaver at all, all the ladies were hired to work for him. While some were at one time slaves they are all free to leave at anytime. Hugh hates slavers and has destroyed several slaving rings.
This has of course caused some problems from time to time.(see NPC for more details)
Hugh didn’t build the inn, an elven lady had it built, and they had become friends through the years. She went out adventure several years ago and hasn’t been seen since. Hugh took over running the bar
after her disappearance. Seemed that several of the employees at the time were helping themselves to the profits.
He has always split the profits and sent her half to her father, a powerful mage that lives in the town. He is the mage that cast all the unique spells that the inn has cast on it. Hugh keeps perfect records of
all sales and expenses and should she return. If anything should happen to Hugh, possible between adventuring and enemies, the women working for him will take over running the inn.
The Hobbit Hole is a small inn in the middle of one of the largest cities in the realm Haven, or any large town. This inn from the outside looks like a grassy mound with a small stable beside it. The only way
seen to enter the inn is through a small green door in the front. Anyone entering the inn for the first time will need to bend down to make it through the three foot door. However this is not necessary but will
amuse the other patrons.
There are numerous magic spell cast on this inn to give it it’s extremely unusual properties. The first is the illusion of the mound and door. In true this is a normal two-story inn with a large stable. The small
door is part of the illusion; the door is actually over seven feet tall.
Once inside the inn one realizes that there are more magics at work here. The interior of the building is much larger than the land it sits on would allow. The interior houses two very large common drinking
rooms and several private drinking rooms. There is a “fight” room on the first floor where patrons can challenge one another to mock battles. There are two common sleeping rooms on the first floor that can
accompidate fifteen people each.
The second floor has a common sleeping room as well as 30 private rooms that have 2 beds in them. Windows on the second floor look down on to the street. Many patorns like to lean out the window and
call to passerbys. The look on the faces of those who don't know about the inn is a constant source of ammusement. Look up and seeing someone appearing out of nowhere and waving is a bit shocking.
A unique ability of the inn that patrons like is the inability to open hostilities inside the common rooms. The builder of this bar had numerous magic spells cast that stop patrons from fighting and thereby
destroying the bar. If patrons start to fight several powerful lightning bolts shoot at them from the walls. These do not miss and do large amounts of damage. They always render the patron unconscious
and have been known to almost kill from time to time. These spells have been known to hurt those who are highly ressistant to magic as well
Another magic property of the inn is the inability to steal. Several magics have been cast that will cause great harm to anyone stealing. This includes breaking into rooms, picking pockets or any other
thieving activity. While this has caused a few problems with the local theif’s guild, the patrons enjoy know that no matter how drunk they get no one will steal them blind.
There is a door in the back of the common room that will teleport anyone turning the knob to a door in the Three Oaks Inn (see Places)
